DOJ Lacks PPP Investigation Authority, Immigration Group Says

Center for Immigration Studies Inc. urged a court to set aside the US Department of Justice’s demand for information about whether the organization misrepresented itself to secure a Paycheck Protection Program loan.

The Small Business Administration resolved the issue of CIS’s loan eligibility and therefore whether CIS violated the False Claims Act is beyond DOJ’s jurisdiction, the organization said in Wednesday petition filed at the US District Court for the District of Columbia.
