Dish Wireless Agrees to $17 Million False Claims Act Settlement

Dish Wireless LLC agreed to pay roughly $17 million to resolve allegations that it violated the False Claims Act, common law, and the Communications Act of 1934 relating to claims submitted to Federal Communications Commission programs, the Justice Department said Wednesday.

The settlement resolves allegations Dish received monthly payments from the Emergency Broadband Benefits Program, and its successor program, the Affordable Connectivity Program, to which it wasn’t entitled, the DOJ said.

The programs assisted low-income consumers with discounted broadband services and devices.
