A Washington, DC-based nonprofit organization that helps adults with disabilities stopped a former employee’s suit alleging she lost her job for raising concerns about misrepresentations in documents needed for federal payments.
Former clinical nursing director Tarren Evans’ False Claims Act retaliation claim failed because she didn’t adequately allege Individual Advocacy Group Inc. knew she was looking into possible fraud as a whistleblower, the US District Court for the District of Columbia said in a Tuesday opinion granting a motion to dismiss. Judge Rudolph Contreras gave Evans until Oct. 16 to amend her complaint.
