Convicted Alaska Repair Shop Owner Accused of Loan Fraud by Feds

The owner of Alaska vehicle repair shop Arm Rippin Toys Inc. violated the False Claims Act by fraudulently obtaining a federal loan through false certifications to the Small Business Administration, federal prosecutors say.

Michael Hanzuk secured an $108,000 Economic Injury Disaster Loan from the government by certifying that he had not engaged in any illegal activity as defined by federal guidelines, but in fact, he was engaged in a conspiracy to violate the Clean Air Act, the government said in a Oct. 20 complaint with the US District Court for the District of Alaska.
