Clothing Importer, US Reach $7.6 Million False Claims Settlement

Alexis LLC agreed to pay $7.6 million to settle a False Claims Act suit alleging that the company defrauded US Customs and Border Protection by not paying the full amount of customs duties and fees on clothing imported from China, the Justice Department announced.

The settlement of the case brought by whistleblower is CABP Ethics and Co. LLC—which isn’t an admission of liability by Alexis—resolves alleged misconduct from Jan. 1, 2015 through Dec. 31, 2022, the press release said.
