Canceled Federal Contract Work Falls Mostly on Blue Districts

Democratic congressional districts have been hit almost four times as hard as Republican ones by contract spending cuts under the Trump administration.

While the number of Democratic- and Republican-represented districts tied to the task orders is almost even, the dollars are not. Work performed in Democratic districts accounts for $17.5 billion of their $21.1 billion lifetime total and Republican districts account for $3.6 billion, according to an analysis of Bloomberg Government’s federal contracting data.
