BNSF Railway Company is entitled to nearly $1.5 million in attorneys’ fees and costs in a False Claims Act suit against the Center for Asbestos Related Disease Inc., a Montana federal district court said.
This is the proper award for whistleblower BNSF Railway, the prevailing party in a suit alleging that CARD submitted false statements to the federal government about the eligibility of patients in Montana to receive treatments for asbestos-related medical conditions, Judge Dana L. Christensen of the US District Court for the District of Montana said in a Tuesday order.
