Blue Origin’s Doomed Moon Bid Exceeded NASA Funding, Court Says

Blue Origin Federal LLC didn’t have standing to protest SpaceX’s nearly $3 billion NASA contract to develop technology to land people on the moon because its price was more than three times the agency’s 2021 budget, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims said in an opinion released Thursday.

The court issued a one-page order Nov. 4 announcing its decision to dismiss.

Blue Origin didn’t show it would be in a position for the award even if the court found either that NASA’s evaluation of SpaceX was improper or SpaceX’s proposal was unawardable, Judge Richard A. Hertling said.
