The artificial intelligence market has accounted for $8.4 billion of federal procurement over the last four full fiscal years, almost doubling spending from fiscal 2018 to fiscal 2022.
The Defense Department spent 64% of all unclassified AI contracting dollars since fiscal 2018. The departments of Health and Human Services and NASA are the biggest civilian agency spenders in the market.
