BGOV Bill Analysis: H.R. 5100, Extend Small Business R&D Program

Programs that direct federal research and development dollars to small businesses would be reauthorized for one year by H.R. 5100.

The measure would extend the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs through Sept. 30, 2026. Authorities for the two programs are set to lapse after Sept. 30, which could threaten billions in funds awarded to small businesses under the programs.
