BGOV Bill Analysis: H.R. 2931, ‘Sanctuary’ City SBA Offices (1)

The Small Business Administration would be required to relocate or close any offices in cities or counties that have policies that limit cooperation with federal immigration authorities under an amended version of H.R. 2931.

The SBA also would be prohibited from opening any new regional, district, or local offices in such jurisdictions.

The measure would cover any SBA offices — except for the main agency headquarters — located in a so-called sanctuary city, which generally refers to local governments that declare they won’t assist with immigration enforcement and deportation.
