Ball Aerospace Cleared to Defend Award in L3Harris’ NASA Protest

Ball Aerospace Technologies Corp. can defend its $553.9 million NASA contract to support a weather prediction satellite program from L3Harris Technologies Inc.'s court protest.

Judge Carolyn N. Lerner of the US Court of Federal Claims granted Ball Aerospace’s unopposed motion to intervene in the Jan. 26 protest—filed under seal—in a Monday order.

The protest follows L3Harris’ unsuccessful challenge at the Government Accountability Office.

L3Harris failed to show that NASA didn’t properly assess the cost impact of BAE Systems plc’s planned acquisition of Ball Aerospace, the GAO said Dec. 20.
