BAE Fails to Show Error in $78 Million Navy Ship Repair Contract

Continental Maritime of San Diego LLC can proceed with a $78 million US Department of the Navy contract for repair services on the USS Russell despite a protest by BAE Sytems San Diego Ship Repair Inc., the US Government Accountability Office said.

BAE argued that the Navy improperly selected Continental because it ignored a workforce shortage issue that Continental’s other projects would cause. It said publicly available information showed that Continental undertook “a significant manpower commitment from certain aircraft carrier subcontract work” that the Navy should have considered.
