Ambulance transport company American Medical Response Inc. must continue to defend against allegations it violated the False Claims Act by improperly billing Medicare and Medicaid, the District of Connecticut said.
Whistleblower Paul Fabula has raised evidence of overbilling, including that AMR may have falsely billed Medicaid twice for a single ambulance transport of a patient, said Judge Michael P. Shea of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut.
Fabula has also adequately alleged that AMR improperly billed Medicare for emergency response services to increase revenue, the court said.
