A Georgia man is appearing in federal court Monday on charges that he received kickbacks in exchange for coronavirus testing referrals, the Department of Justice said.
The case marks the third coronavirus-related prosecution announced to date by the DOJ, as federal prosecutors across the U.S. create task forces aimed at stemming fraud connected to the health crisis.
Erik Santos, owner of a Georgia-based marketing company that generated leads for medical-testing companies, is charged with conspiracy to commit health-care fraud and conspiracy to violate the federal anti-kickback law, according to the DOJ’s complaint.
