Airfield Contractor Denied Costs Stemming From Taliban Takeover

Airfield contractor Omran Inc. failed to show that it should be compensated $1.5 million from the US Army Corps of Engineers for construction equipment and materials lost after the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, a contract appeals board said in a decision released Tuesday.

Omran, which received a $31.2 million contract to design and build an airfield in Mazar-e-Sharif, alleged that the US government’s failure to make timely decisions about the project delayed the company’s ability to demobilize the equipment.
