Aircraft Bladder Tank Awards Worth Over $50 Million Upheld

American Fuel Cell & Coated Fabrics Co. failed to show that the Defense Logistics Agency erred by awarding contracts for fuel bladder tanks for C-130 aircraft to Meggitt Inc. and Floats & Fuel Cells Inc., the GAO said in a decision released Monday.

American Fuel argued that its “limited confidence” past performance rating was improper because the agency didn’t consider favorable performance under a recent emergency fuel bladder order.

But the rating was reasonable because the agency was in “dire need” of fuel bladders due to American Fuel’s inability to complete delivery orders on time, the GAO said.
