Ahold Delhaize USA Agrees to $40 Million Fraud Settlement (1)

Ahold Delhaize USA Inc. will pay $40 million to resolve allegations that it violated the False Claims Act by reporting inflated “usual and customary” prices on claims to federal healthcare programs, the Justice Department said Wednesday.

The government alleged that Ahold Delhaize supermarkets with in-store pharmacies, such as Giant and Food Lion, failed to accurately report discounted prices from their prescription savings programs as the usual and customary prices on claims to federal healthcare programs, the announcement said.
