Walmart Shareholders Lose Support for Gun Safety Proposal (2)

Walmart Inc. investors rejected a handful of shareholder proposals at the company’s annual meeting Wednesday, including a repeat bid focused on reducing risks to employees of gun violence.

That proposal asking the company to audit its internal policies to protect employees from workplace violence—especially gun violence—received 19.1% of the vote, compared with 23.8% last year. Violent incidents have “become too common at Walmart,” longtime employee Cynthia Murray said in the proposal as detailed in the company’s proxy statement.
