Walmart Inc shareholders rejected a pair of proposals Wednesday that asked the company to study its workplace safety measures and customer-privacy and access to abortion.
The bids come in a year when social issues like abortion access, workers rights and racial equity have increasingly appeared on companies’ proxy ballots. Investors at American Express Co., and Coca-Cola Co. also voted down abortion-related data privacy proposals this year.
Each shareholder proposal failed, and the company did not provide the vote totals at Walmart’s annual meeting. A spokesperson declined to comment on the proposals, but pointed to the company’s proxy statement. ...
