UPS Investors Vote Against Bid Seeking More Diversity Data (1)

United Parcel Service Inc. investors on Thursday rejected a proposal seeking more information about how effective the company’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts are.

The proposal, brought by environmental and social shareholder advocacy group As You Sow, asked the company to provide diversity information spanning hiring, promotion and retention of employees, including data by gender, race and ethnicity. While investor bids typically ask for a stand-alone report, the investors said an independent report isn’t necessary, and instead asked UPS to produce the data through its existing sustainability reporting.
