UK Firms Demand Mandatory ESG Reporting, Prefer Wider EU Route

Two reports from UK regulators on Tuesday showed broad corporate support for consistent environmental, social and governance reporting rules and call for the country to follow the EU’s lead in requiring broader impact reporting.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland said in a survey of more than 500 UK company bosses, who said they supported mandatory reporting of ESG matters and supported EU-style impact reporting. A separate report from the Financial Reporting Council said the heads of big-company audit committees found reporting rules inconsistent.
