Tyson’s Investors Reject Deeper Scrutiny of Child Labor Risks

Tyson Foods Inc. investors on Thursday voted against a shareholder proposal that asked the meatpacking giant for a third-party audit of its labor practices following alleged child labor law violations.

The bid from the American Baptist Home Mission Societies had asked Tyson to disclose more information on how it’s making good on its stated no tolerance policy for illegal child labor.

The proposal pointed to a US Labor Department penalty from early 2023 for a subcontractor’s use of illegal child labor in a number of meat processing facilities, including Tyson plants in Arkansas and Tennessee. Only the subcontractor was held ...
