Trump’s Former Lawyer Blanche Confirmed as DOJ Second-in-Command

Todd Blanche, President Donald Trump’s former criminal defense attorney, was confirmed as second-in-command at the Justice Department.

The Senate voted, 52-46, along party lines Wednesday to confirm Blanche as deputy attorney general.

Blanche, a former Manhattan federal prosecutor, represented Trump against federal criminal charges in Washington over election obstruction and in Florida over his handling of classified documents, as well as in the New York state court case over hush-money payments.

Speaking on the Senate floor ahead of the vote, Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said Blanche handled those cases “with professional excellence.”
