TripAdvisor’s Maffei Loses Initial Appeal Bid on Nevada Move (1)

TripAdvisor Inc. corporate leaders lost their initial bid Thursday to swiftly appeal a court ruling that tentatively allowed shareholders to seek damages over the company’s move from Delaware to Nevada.

A Delaware judge, Vice Chancellor J. Travis Laster, declined to greenlight an immediate appeal by Greg Maffei, the company’s controlling stockholder. Although the judge refused last month to block the reincorporation, Maffei has moved to appeal sections of the decision that kept alive the fiduciary breach claim seeking money damages from him. The Delaware Supreme Court could decide to take the case anyway.
