Trafigura Is First Big Oil Merchant to Show Trade Book Emissions

Trafigura Group has become the first major energy trading house to disclose its so-called Scope 3 emissions from the resources it buys and sells.

The Swiss merchant’s Scope 3 emissions — which are accrued across the supply chain of a company’s business — exceeded 378 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent last year, it showed in its annual sustainability report on Friday. Products purchased and sold accounted for 95% of that figure.
