Target Shareholders Reject Studying Need for Minimum Wage Hike

Target Corp. investors on Wednesday rejected a proposal urging the big box store to consider paying its workers higher hourly wages.

The proposal, filed by activism nonprofit The Shareholder Commons, asked Target to establish wage policies that provide workers with the minimum pay necessary to meet a family’s basic needs. The bid noted that Target increased its minimum hourly wage to $15 in 2020 and two years later announced starting wages would range from $15 to $24, depending on the job and the local market.
