Starbucks shareholders voted against a proposal aiming to get the coffee giant to take a closer look at lowering its prices for oat, almond, and other plant-based milk options, according to recently released results.
The proposal, brought by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, asked specifically for a report examining any costs to Starbucks’s reputation and any impact on its projected sales as a result of higher charges for plant-based milk compared to cow’s milk. The proposal, which investors voted on at Starbucks’s annual meeting on March 13, received about 5% of investor support.
