Two House conservatives flipped votes Thursday to give Republican leaders a spending bill win on the House floor — and a warning about legislation to come.

The $57.3 billion Energy and Water appropriations measure almost didn’t pass when a handful of Republicans initially voted no. Rep. Chip Roy (Texas), one of the two Republicans who switched his vote to aye after talking to colleagues, cautioned that he and others will continue pressuring the GOP to hold down spending to at least current funding levels in the year starting Oct. 1.
