SEC Commissioner Suggests Leaving Climate Rules’ Fate to Courts

SEC Commissioner Mark Uyeda on Monday questioned if he and his fellow Republicans should devote agency resources to undo corporate emissions reporting requirements as an appellate court reviews the regulations’ legality.

The US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit paused litigation in April and ordered the Securities and Exchange Commission to share its plans for the rules by July. The SEC abandoned its defense of the regulations in court in March under Uyeda, who was the agency’s interim leader at the time.
