SEC Chair Gary Gensler downplayed concerns that the agency’s climate reporting requirements for companies will be sidetracked by legal challenges from Republicans and industry opponents.
Gensler responded a volley of questions Monday at the Council of Institutional Investors conference in Washington about how the regulator will navigate challenges to the climate rule. The SEC has faced strong objections to the March 2022 proposal from companies, Republican officials, and other stakeholders including the Chamber of Commerce.
