School Avoids Suit by Teacher Fired After ‘Nightmare’ Surgeries

A Catholic school teacher, who was fired after not being able to return to work because of complications from surgery, didn’t prove that she was discriminated against because of a disability, the First Circuit said.

Nancy Der Sarkisian had brought claims against Austin Preparatory School in Reading, Mass., alleging disability discrimination in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Massachusetts state law; she also alleged age discrimination in violation of state law.
