Republican Officials Ask Court to Restore Proxy Advice Limits

Republican attorneys general from Utah, Florida, Texas and 23 other states have urged the Sixth Circuit to toss new SEC rules lifting Trump-era restrictions on firms guiding shareholder voting.

The Securities and Exchange Commission’s 2022 rollback of the 2020 curbs on Institutional Shareholder Services Inc., Glass, Lewis & Co. and other proxy advisory firms was unwarranted, the attorneys generals told the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit on Tuesday. The attorneys general included Sean Reyes of Utah, Ashley Moody of Florida and John Scott of Texas.
