Republican AGs Ask Court to Toss SEC Proxy Vote Disclosure Rules

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and three other Republican attorneys general are asking a federal appeals court to set aside SEC rules requiring mutual funds to report more about their proxy voting on ESG issues.

The attorneys general—who also include Jeff Landry of Louisiana, Sean Reyes of Utah and Patrick Morrisey of West Virginia—petitioned the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit to review the regulations that the Securities and Exchange Commission adopted in November. The court notified the SEC of the matter Wednesday, according to a letter included with the petition.
