Qatar World Cup Deaths Blamed on Jacobs Board in Lawsuit (1)

Jacobs Solutions Inc. board members looked the other way while thousands of workers building FIFA World Cup facilities in Qatar died on the company’s watch before the 2022 event, a newly unsealed lawsuit says.

The engineering giant’s directors had ample notice of the exploitive Qatari migrant labor system—characterized by rampant trafficking, abusive conditions, and other human rights violations—yet ignored their duty to monitor the safety of workers who spent years building multibillion-dollar stadiums, according to the shareholder complaint filed by a pension fund.
