Pinterest $50 Million Race, Sex Bias Settlement Gets Early Nod

A $50 million settlement between Pinterest and its shareholders over alleged race and sex discrimination was approved to move forward by a federal judge in the Northern District of California.

The settlement stems from a November 2020 suit that was brought by shareholders who alleged that two Black female employees, Ifeoma Ozoma and Aerica Shimizu, were retaliated against for seeking equitable pay. Separately, Pinterest was sued in August 2020 by its top female executive and first chief operating officer, Francoise Brougher, who also claimed gender discrimination and retaliation. Pinterest paid $22.5 million to settle the Brougher suit.
