Trade groups for physician assistant programs and professionals plan to challenge the Trump administration’s final rules implementing new caps on federal loans for graduate students imposed in the GOP’s tax-and-spending law.
The PA Education Association and the American Academy of Physician Associates will argue that by excluding physician assistant programs from accessing more loans, the Education Department goes well beyond the statutory requirements of the Republican law signed last summer.
“The Department has exceeded its authority by acting contrary to Congressional intent,” according to a joint statement from the groups.
