Paramount Merger Faces FCC Protest From Media Watchdog Group (1)

The Center for American Rights, a public interest law firm, has filed a petition with the Federal Communications Commission airing concerns about the pending merger of Paramount Global and Skydance Media.

The nonprofit organization, which describes itself as nonpartisan, said an investment in Skydance by the Chinese company Tencent Holdings Ltd. raises questions about foreign influence over the US media. Furthermore, the group said Paramount’s CBS News division has a “troubling track record of ideological bias and news manipulation” and lacks diversity in its hiring practices.
