NYC Comptroller Targets Workers Rights in Broader Investor Push

An official from the New York City Comptroller’s office said its pension funds have filed “a more diverse set” of shareholder proposals than previous years, pointing to its focus on workers’ rights that ramped up in 2022.

New York City Comptroller’s executive director of corporate governance, Yumi Narita, spoke about the most recent season of annual shareholder meetings at a Practising Law Institute conference in New York on Monday. Narita said the breadth of proposals submitted at companies the funds hold stock in expanded after Brad Lander became Comptroller in early 2022.
