NRG CEO to Step Down as Power Producer Promotes Gaudette (2)

NRG Energy Inc. has promoted Robert Gaudette to become its next chief executive officer, replacing Lawrence Coben, who has led the company since 2023.

Gaudette will take the top job April 30 at the Houston-based power producer’s next annual meeting, and becomes president immediately, according to a statement Wednesday. Coben will remain as an advisor through the end of this year.

The transition comes at a time when power suppliers are facing strong demand, which has boosted NRG’s shares 65% in the past year. Still, NRG has faced criticism for being late to take advantage of the data center boom ...
