Tesla Appeals $176 Million Legal Payout in Board Comp Case (1)

Tesla Inc. asked Delaware’s top court Monday to overturn $176 million in legal fees awarded to the shareholder attorneys who challenged four years of pay for the company’s board of directors, including Elon Musk.

The appeal takes aim at a ruling last month by Chancellor Kathaleen St. J. McCormick, the same judge who voided Musk’s record $56 billion CEO compensation package last year. McCormick, chief judge of Delaware’s Chancery Court, handed $345 million in December to the different group of lawyers who won the earlier pay case. Musk has already appealed those rulings.
