Meta Platforms, Inc. investors on Wednesday voted against a proposal aiming to evaluate the risks of law enforcement potentially securing sensitive abortion-related data from the social media giant.
A proposal filed by Arjuna Capital asked for a public report looking into the possibility of expanding consumer privacy protections and controls over sensitive personal data to prevent abortion-related information being provided to law enforcement. The proposal asked that Meta consider a global or regionally based data privacy policy that would give consumers “deletion rights” for their data as well as establishing a default end-to-end encryption policy on all Facebook Messenger chats. ...
