Manufacturers Urge DC Circuit to Uphold SEC Proxy Firm Curbs

A federal judge in DC was wrong to toss the first Trump administration’s restrictions on ISS and other proxy advisory firms earlier this year, a manufacturers group told an appeals court in a new filing.

The 2020 Securities and Exchange Commission regulations for firms that advise shareholders voting at companies’ annual meetings were “modest reporting requirements designed to increase transparency and promote the free flow of information,” the National Association of Manufacturers said in a brief filed Friday with the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
