“Diva of distressed debt” Lynn Tilton won a court ruling in Delaware letting her move forward with her effort to recoup $22 million from Stila Styles LLC after her ouster from the cosmetics company’s helm.
Judge Sheldon K. Rennie on Tuesday denied Stila’s request to have the case thrown out, saying Tilton’s allegations made it plausible she reached a deal with the company to defer tax-related distributions that added up to $22 million over time. Absent such a pact, her claims would be doomed by the statute of limitations, the judge said in a ruling for Delaware’s Superior Court.
