Lucid Production Timeline Delayed by SPAC’s Quality Concerns (1)

Lucid Motors Inc.’s decision to push back a production timeline for its debut electric car came after acquirer Churchill Capital Corp IV. expressed concerns about the startup’s quality control and supply chain, the combined company’s chief executive officer said.

The manufacturer, which on Monday confirmed plans to merge with blank-check company Churchill, aims to start producing its battery-powered Air sedan in the second half of this year, a delay from its previous plan to start up next quarter. The postponement followed consultation with Churchill executives who saw a prototype vehicle, Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson said Tuesday.
