Lemieux’s Sale of Penguins to Fenway Group Sent to Arbitration

NHL legend Mario Lemieux and billionaire businessman Ron Burkle won their bid to compel arbitration of a challenge in Delaware to their sale of a controlling stake in the Pittsburgh Penguins to Fenway Sports Group, which owns the Boston Red Sox and Liverpool FC.

Vice Chancellor Paul A. Fioravanti Jr. tossed the case from Delaware’s Chancery Court, citing contracts in which the minority investor behind the lawsuit agreed to the arbitration provisions of the NHL Constitution.
