Lawyer Alleges Ponzi Scheme By Fellow Lawyer, Ex-Best Friend

A Philadelphia lawyer wants a court to hold his former best friend personally liable for tricking him into investing more than $1 million in his “sham LLC,” allegedly a Ponzi scheme that was on the verge of collapsing due to fraud.

John P. Lane Jr. filed a lawsuit May 3 in Delaware Chancery Court, seeking to “pierce the veil” of Main Street Business Funding LLC, which he claims is the “alter ego” of his best friend of 30 years, Robert S. Goggin III. Goggin, another Philadelphia attorney, is a partner at Keller & Goggin.
