Lawmakers Ready Plan for Changes to Commercial Chemicals Law (1)

Congress is awaiting a discussion draft of legislation to revise portions of the Toxic Substances Control Act, Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Ala.) said Wednesday.

Palmer, who chairs the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Environment, mentioned the planned legislation at the US Chamber of Commerce’s Chemistry Solutions Forum.

He declined to discuss details of the draft, but said he expects the bill would ensure that new chemicals are approved within the timeline set by TSCA.
