Kuramo Capital Gets Congo Palm Oil Transaction ‘Unscrambled’

Kuramo Capital Management LLC affiliates won a court ruling unwinding the complex restructuring of their stake in a Congolese palm oil company over a business partner’s plot to seize control of their investment.

A Delaware judge agreed to “unscramble” a series of byzantine transactions among the web of entities that collectively hold 76% of Plantations et Hulieries de Congo SA, which is also partly owned by the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Kuramo, a private equity firm focused on Africa investments, is led by founder Wale Adeosun, a former adviser to President Barack Obama on US commercial policy toward Africa. ...
