Investors Shrug at House GOP’s ‘Climate Cartel’ Antitrust Claims

Shareholder groups say they are unfazed by claims from a House Republican report that alleges they illegally conspired to install two members to an energy company’s board nearly four years ago.

The groups refuted the claims in an interim report issued by the House Judiciary Committee last week and said they will continue to engage in the types of activities the lawmakers called illegal. The report alleged investor activists and big asset managers violated antitrust laws when they coordinated a campaign to elect two people to the board of oil and gas behemoth Exxon Mobil in 2021.
